Adoption & Foster Care - Speaker INFo
During this workshop, we will hear from Mia Hernandez, Niki Ashiru, Heather Locy, and Laura Galt on how to be involved in caring for children who need homes.
Mia Hernandez has worked with Bethany Christian Services for the past four years, serving in various roles. She now serve as an Expectant Parent Counselor and child Social Worker for children who are in the foster care system and are placed in their adoptive homes. Adoption is near and dear to my heart because I grew up in the foster care system until I was adopted at the age of nine. It is an honor to work with expectant parents, adoptive families, and adoptees to assist them in their journeys. I'm continually amazed by the bittersweet, yet courageous and loving choice that adoption provides for all parties involved."
Nicole 'Niki' Ashiru is a special education teacher with the New York City Department of Education and a passionate follower of Christ. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Biology from Franklin & Marshall College and an Master of Science in Special Education (MSED) from Nyack College. Niki is married and lives with her husband in New York City where they are members of Trinity Grace Church. They have two children, one biologically and the other through adoption.
When Heather Locy was young, God placed a calling on her heart to help children in need of families.
